The IRAC Advisory Board has withdrawn its proposal for an Intergenerational facility at the Nash-Hernandez building. The next step is to get PARD to adopt the community’s vision for the building, get Cotera+Reed hired back and git ‘er done! The next good news is that PARB approved Boardmember Reed’s resolution (seconded by Nicole Merritt D-3) to advise the Council to reconsider the now infamous Pio-Kimmery ordinance of 2019. The vote was 9-0. The next step will likely be at Council. As soon as we know, we’ll put it out there. Huge thanks go out to Rewild ATX, Free Zilker Coalition, Bertha and the residents of ETLCNA, and that one-man army, Ricardo Chavana. Together we win!
We East Austinites have lost so many battles it feels strange to have won one. We thank this wonderful coalition for all their effort, devotion, and, most of all, empathy. We realize there’s still a huge battle ahead but knowing we have allies makes all the difference.
