AUSTIN RESIDENTS DEMAND TO BE HEARD!

At last Austin residents are rising up. We are finished with allowing private and special interests to run this city.

We are done with:

* Urging our city council to consider our best interests only to see private gain as the main driver of planning and change.

*Listening to affordability rhetoric only to watch more and more affordable houses being destroyed and luxury dwellings or vacation homes emerge.

* Hearing about climate change and environmental concerns, but watching our parks be paved over by special interests groups who gain from their stewardship of our commons.

*Watching our communities be gentrified and torn apart by wealthy interests with no concern for their quality of life.

* Living with infrastructure failures caused by lack of true planning or caring.

* Environmental controls being ignored and leaving us to deal with potential disasters.

*Wealthy realtors, developers and tourists having priority over residents.

* Of being told to speak up only to see a predetermined outcome.

We, the very Austinites –the artists, the musicians, the laborers the teachers, nurses, advocates and others who over the decades, created this city’s character and charm, now demand that our voices be heard and that our concerns be addressed.
